but I feel like that would kind of be an anticlimactic way to look at it. There could be no demon, and he's just full blown in psychosis now. Whether the demon possessed his cat, or killed his cat, who knows. If he could come back out while being underwater with the rock, he "wins." Previously he was always in the boat, not touching the water. So I think throwing the rock while being UNDERWATER was a chance for the demon to take him as well. And I think he said the rocks were "for" certain things, or to symbolize certain things. I know we heard growls when he threw some rocks into the lake. Imagine the lake has some black hole to hell in it, and throwing the rocks opens that in some way. There was also something about throwing rocks into the lake as some sort of summoning or sacrifice type thing? Or perhaps it was even meant to anger the demon. I too heard that it was the possum at the end that he's eating. we don't really know what he was burning or combining.īut I want to rewatch now knowing that you're supposed to come up with your own theories. Other than knowing he was trying to summon a demon and trying to get/make gold. I kept hoping it would explain what he was making, or how it was supposed to work (even if it was completely made up). I will say I was a LITTLE disappointed at first, I feel like nothing that he did was really explained. I'm still processing how I feel about it. Probably has much more detail in it if what’s supposed to be happening! Weird, sporadic movie nothing of what I expected! Lolol and I don’t understand throwing rocks in the lake at all. So I think that was the goal all along but he went crazy from getting high on his own supply and not taking whatever pills he needed to have. And he was planning on getting rich w his bro selling drugs by making their own out in the middle of nowhere because the mention of dealers by his bro and then the mention of being so close to wanting a mansion and being rich. So he needs said meds and his bro didn’t get them supposedly which makes this whole trip occur but also I think it could be because his brain IS fried from cooking and doing meth so that’s just his reality. And then, because of his demons in his mind and from being in prison I’m guessing he has a lot to work through that it drove him nuts. He doesn’t get his meds so everything gets progressively worse. But I’m guessing like someone else said mental health as a metaphor. I didn’t understand so I came to Reddit Lolol there’s a book I think. A continuance of what was already occurring. And he realizes he’s back where he started. And I’m assuming as well his cat, Cas? Because there is a meow. The thing following him through the woods. The teeth, the horns are gone, no blood, his eyes are his soul again, so he won essentially. He feels better and when he returns out of the water he is normal again. Also, submerging because underwater is closest to silence, quiet, calm. He finally experiences peace because of the water, water is emotions and tranquility, he submerges to cleanse himself. He goes to the lake and finds peace and I assume beats him by saying he wins that he’s not controlled or possessed by the creature. And the rocks? Why is he throwing rocks in the pond yelling at the demon? Does it keep it away from him longer? Lololįrom what I experienced of the movie he had already been taken over or in the process, the horns, the long dirty nails, the teeth, the blood, the eyes, change in tone.but he was still there showing concern for his cat but couldn’t see it was dead in front of him. But I’m still confused this is the best I got from it. But then the entity took on the cat so he couldn’t take on Sean since he renewed himself in the lake and retained his peace by shutting the demon out w tranquility from the water and shutting down his mind in the water. He was almost rid of it by saying he won and cleansing himself because he had horns, change of tone, the teeth, the weird long dirty nails, his eyes and then he entered the water and was normal after he emerged. Cause just like the bro, he died snd the entity took over his dead body. He ate his cat and I think it became possessed since he was looking for him through the forest. Because his cat was definitely dead on the counter when he was looking for him, it was gray. That the demon may have taken over the cat. Well the part in relation to the creature at the end and the meow, I think is the same as the brother.
